Preview Roundups
December 09, 2018
Arizona at Alabama 1:00 PM ET
Arizona freshman guard Brandon Williams has been a perfect fit with the Wildcats, who had to replace all five starters from last season. The Los Angeles native looks to continue his strong start Sunday against host Alabama, which needs to regroup after blowing a 21-point halftime lead in Tuesday’s 83-80 loss to Georgia State.
South Carolina State at Virginia Tech 1:00 PM ET

No. 14 Virginia Tech often beats opponents with torrid long-range shooting, ranking fourth in the country in 3-point shooting percentage (44.8) and sixth in 3-pointers per game (11.8), but the Hokies showed VMI they could play defense as well. With an important game against Washington on the horizon, Virginia Tech seeks to remain undefeated against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference teams when South Carolina State visits on Sunday.

Princeton at St. John's 1:00 PM ET
Two of the best players in college basketball face off Sunday when Shamorie Ponds and St. John's host Devin Cannady and Princeton. Ponds, a junior, and Cannady, a senior, are both small guards with terrific scoring instincts, which should make for an entertaining matchup at Madison Square Garden.
VCU at Virginia 1:30 PM ET
Virginia looks to continue its unbeaten start to the season as it goes for its ninth consecutive win on Sunday afternoon when it hosts VCU. The fourth-ranked Cavaliers followed back-to-back hard-fought wins over ranked teams by crushing Morgan State 83-45 on Monday.
Florida A&M at Georgia Tech 2:00 PM ET

After two games away from McCamish Pavilion, Georgia Tech returns home Sunday to begin a run where it plays seven of eight at home when Florida A&M visits for a non-conference game. The Yellow Jackets have won all four of their home games by double digits over Lamar, East Carolina, UT Rio Grande Valley and Prairie View A&M, and lost all three of its games away from home -- at No. 5 Tennessee, at Northwestern and versus St. John’s on a neutral court.

Incarnate Word at Louisiana State 2:00 PM ET
After playing seven games in 19 days to begin the regular season, LSU's Will Wade seems to relish the much slower pace of December. The second-year coach hopes the quality time he has been able to spend with his team recently starts bearing fruit Sunday when the Tigers host Incarnate Word in their first game in over a week and only their second contest in 14 days.
Tennessee at Gonzaga 3:00 PM ET
Seventh-ranked Tennessee had No. 2 ranked Kansas on the ropes in the final of the NIT Season Tip-Off two weeks ago, building a nine-point second half lead before eventually falling in overtime to the Jayhawks. Head coach Rick Barnes hopes the experience his team learned from that loss will carry over on Sunday afternoon when the Vols get a shot at top-ranked Gonzaga in the Jerry Colangelo Classic at Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix.
Oregon St. at Saint Louis 3:30 PM ET

A pair of defensive-minded teams clash Saturday as Oregon State visits Saint Louis. The Beavers pace the Pac-12 with an average of 65 points allowed per game while the Billikens are second in the Atlantic 10 surrendering 61.8 points.

Nevada at Grand Canyon 5:30 PM ET
Sixth-ranked Nevada overcame its worst half of the season to rally for a 72-66 victory over No. 20 Arizona State on Friday night in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Los Angeles. The Wolf Pack now face a quick turnaround as they wrap up a six-game road trip with a game against Grand Canyon in the Jerry Colangelo Classic at Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix.
Southern at Iowa State 6:00 PM ET
Iowa State watched its defense - which had held three straight opponents below 60 points and allowed an average of 61.9 points over its first eight contests - come unglued in its first true road game of the year Thursday. The Cyclones hope for a better showing three days later when they return home to face Southern on Sunday.
Purdue at Texas 6:00 PM ET

Texas looks to get back on track when it hosts No. 24 Purdue on Sunday. The Longhorns beat 12th-ranked North Carolina 92-89 on Nov. 22 to ratchet up expectations in Austin but have dropped three straight games, including disappointing back-to-back home losses to Radford (62-59) and VCU (54-53) to tumble out of the Top 25, and hope to bounce back by knocking off a Big Ten opponent for the first time since 2014.

Montana St. at Washington St. 7:00 PM ET
Washington State looks to build off a dominant, efficient performance when it plays host to Montana State at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Wash. on Sunday night. The Cougars rebounded from a loss at New Mexico State by improving to 5-0 at on-campus Beasley Coliseum with a 90-70 victory over border rival Idaho on Wednesday while turning the ball over just four times.
Seattle at Washington 9:00 PM ET
Washington coach Mike Hopkins doesn’t believe in moral victories, but he knows his team took a step forward in Wednesday’s two-point loss to No. 1 Gonzaga. The Huskies look to build on the impressive showing Sunday against visiting Seattle, which has won six in row following a loss to Southern Utah.
