Preview Roundups
March 29, 2019
Detroit at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers authored an impressive season-opening win at Toronto, riding phenomenal pitching and one dramatic swing to a 2-0 triumph. They'll go for two in a row against the Blue Jays when the teams continue their four-game series at the Rogers Centre on Friday night.
Houston at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros hope to match their offensive effort from Opening Day when they face old friend Charlie Morton on Friday in the second contest of their four-game series against the host Tampa Bay Rays. The Astros belted three homers off reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell and totaled 10 hits in Thursday's season-opening 5-1 victory over the Rays.
Colorado at Miami 7:10 PM ET
All-Star shortstop Trevor Story told reporters earlier this month that the Colorado Rockies' offense would be much better than last season. After belting a solo homer in the opener, Story looks to add a bit more power behind his words on Friday as the Rockies play the second contest of their four-game series against the host Miami Marlins.
St. Louis at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals each harbor lofty aspirations and, if one game is any indication, it should be a dramatic race in the National League Central Division -- at least for the first month. Buoyed by Lorenzo Cain's game-saving catch on Opening Day, Milwaukee resumes its four-game set against the visiting Cardinals on Friday night.
LA Angels at Oakland 10:07 PM ET
After opening the season with a pair of losses in Japan, the Oakland Athletics aim for their second straight victory when they continue their four-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Friday. Oakland came up empty against Seattle in Tokyo but returned home to post an impressive 3-0 win over Los Angeles on Thursday.
San Francisco at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
After recording their first Opening Day victory since 2014, the San Diego Padres look to carry that momentum into Friday’s contest against the visiting San Francisco Giants. San Diego opened the four-game series with a 2-0 win on Thursday as five pitchers combined to hold the light-hitting Giants to five singles.
Arizona at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
One season after leading the National League in home runs by a wide margin, the Los Angeles Dodgers wasted little time signaling that opponents could be in for more of the same in 2019. On the heels of an eight-homer performance that set a major-league record for an Opening Day game, the Dodgers hope to flex their muscles again on Friday, when they continue their four-game series against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks.
Boston at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The defending world champion Boston Red Sox were obliterated in their season opener but will try to bounce back Friday, when they visit the Seattle Mariners for the second contest of their four-game series. Seattle belted five homers among eight extra-base hits while rolling to a 12-4 win on Thursday.
