EUGENE, Ore. -- Fifth-ranked Washington took out 12 years of frustration on Oregon.

Sophomore quarterback Jake Browning accounted for eight touchdowns as the Huskies snapped a 12-game losing streak to Oregon with a 70-21 win on Saturday evening at Autzen Stadium. Washington beat the Ducks for the first time since 2003.

"We came in here today with a little chip on our shoulder," Washington coach Chris Petersen said. "Everybody has a lot of respect for this Oregon program, so these guys prepared as hard as they have prepared all year.

"I think it's nice when they prepare that hard and see the fruits of their labor. It's been awhile coming about this game."

Browning was 22 of 28 for 304 yards and six touchdowns while running for two touchdowns. The eight total touchdowns tied a Pac-12 record set by Cal's Pat Barnes (all eight passing) in 1996.

The Huskies finished with their highest point total since 1944 and rolled up 682 yards of total offense.

"Well, I don't think anybody, certainly me expected to score that many," Petersen said. "It was just one of those games where we came out in the third quarter and they scored, we scored -- we couldn't stop them there for a minute."

Running back Myles Gaskin ran 16 times for 197 yards and a touchdown, wide receiver Dante Pettis had eight catches for 134 yards and two scores and wide receiver John Ross added three touchdown catches.

"(Browning) has been playing at a high level, I mean it's obvious," Petersen said. "I think our receivers are playing at a really good level and I think there is a good mix of throwing deep and knowing who and when to run.

"It's been a good cat and mouse game. Guys are starting to show up -- (Ross) and (Dante) made tremendous catches a couple of times and that's what you have to have to keep moving chains and to have something special happen."

Browning capped the first half with a touchdown run to put the Huskies ahead 35-7 and then opened the second half with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Ross to give Washington a 42-7 lead.

Freshman quarterback Justin Herbert responded with a 21-yard touchdown pass to running back Taj Griffin that got Oregon within 42-14.

Washington answered when Browning tossed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Pettis to put the Huskies ahead 49-14. Browning and Pettis hooked up again on a 10-yarder in the third quarter to make it 56-14.

Griffin had a 10-yard rushing touchdown to get Oregon within 56-21 after three quarters. Browning answered with a 44-yard touchdown pass to running back Jomon Dotson to push the lead to 63-21.

Dotson added a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to boost the lead to 70-21.

Oregon allowed its most points in a game since giving up 71 to Texas in 1941.

"I thought our fans were great, I just apologize for that score," Oregon coach Mark Helfrich said.

Herbert made his first start and was intercepted on his first pass by safety Budda Baker, who returned the ball to the Oregon 30-yard line.

Browning threw a 34-yard pass to Pettis that moved the ball to the 1 before Browning scored on a 1-yard run to put the Huskies ahead 7-0.

Washington drove 67 yards on its second drive before Browning threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to to put the Huskies ahead 14-0.

The Huskies stretched the lead to 21-0 when Gaskin had a 65-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter. Washington made it 28-0 when Browning found Ross for a 15-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter.

Oregon answered when Herbert threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to running back Tony Brooks-James to get within 28-7.

Browning scored on a 7-yard run with 21 seconds left in the first half to put Washington ahead 35-7.

Browning was 14 of 17 for 169 yards and a touchdown and ran for two scores in the first half. Gaskin ran 11 times for 154 yards and a score.

Herbert was 13 of 20 for 124 yards and a touchdown in the first half and finished 21-for-34 for 179 yards and two scores in the game.

NOTES: Washington has the second-longest winning streak in NCAA at nine in a row. ...
