Sophomore running back Kamryn Pettway had a career performance, leading surging Auburn to a 38-14 SEC road win over Mississippi State on Saturday.
Pettway finished with a career-high 169 yards rushing and three touchdowns for the Tigers (4-2, 2-1 SEC), who have bounced back from a home loss to Texas A&M with three straight wins and now head into an off week.
Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson had a forced fumble on a sack late in the second quarter. Montravius Adams returned the fumble 13 yards for a touchdown to put the Tigers in complete command, leading 35-0 at halftime.
Pettway had 125 yards and three touchdowns in the first half.
The Bulldogs (2-3, 1-2) were limited to 91 total yards in the first half and committed two turnovers.
Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald threw two touchdown passes in the second half, including an 8-yard hook-up with Fred Ross that trimmed the Auburn lead to 35-14 early in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers answered with a 14-play drive that took more than eight minutes off the clock and ended with a 25-yard Daniel Carlson field.
Auburn quarterback Sean White completed 14 of 18 passes for 204 yards and touchdown to wide receiver Ryan Davis.
Fitzgerald finished 17 of 34 for 181 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception.
