No. 11 Stanford 35, No. 16 UCLA 17: Stepfan Taylor rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries as the visiting Cardinal secured their spot in next week’s Pac-12 championship game.
Kevin Hogan passed for 160 yards and a score and Anthony Wilkerson added a rushing touchdown for Stanford (10-2, 8-1 Pac-12), which took the North Division and will host a rematch against the South-winning Bruins next Saturday.
Brett Hundley threw for 261 yards and a touchdown but was also intercepted once for UCLA (9-3, 6-3), which had its five-game winning streak end.
The Cardinal grabbed the lead on Wilkerson’s 10-yard touchdown run with 8:22 left in the first half and started to put some distance between themselves and the Bruins when Taylor broke through on the next possession for a 49-yard touchdown burst.
Hundley was intercepted by Jordan Richards in the third quarter and Stanford used that miscue to begin a sequence that would put the game away. Taylor scored on a 1-yard run four plays later and Alex Debniak forced a fumble on the ensuing kickoff that Usua Amanam picked up and ran 11 yards into the end zone to put the Cardinal on top 35-10.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Taylor went over 4,000 career rushing yards (4,134) with his output. ... Stanford clinched its third straight 10-win season - the first such stretch in school history. … UCLA RB Jonathan Franklin (4,175) rushed for 65 yards to move into fifth place on the Pac-12’s all-time list. … Zach Ertz led the Cardinal receiving corps with five catches for 75 yards.
