No. 17 Texas 33, Iowa State 7: David Ash threw two touchdown passes and Johnathan Gray ran for a pair of scores as the Longhorns rolled past the visiting Cyclones.
Ash hit Mike Davis for a 61-yard score in the first quarter and threw a 3-yard TD pass to Barrett Matthews in the second. Gray got the Longhorns on the board with a 5-yard run in the first quarter and added a 13-yard run in the fourth.
Nick Jordan kicked field goals of 37 and 25 yards for Texas (8-2, 5-2 Big 12), which has won four straight games.
Steele Jantz threw a 14-yard scoring pass to Quenton Bundrage with 41 seconds remaining in the first half for the Cyclones' only score. Iowa State (5-5, 2-5) has lost four of five.
The Longhorns paid tribute to former coach Darrell Royal, who died on Wednesday, by running out of the Wishbone formation on their first play from scrimmage. Royal made the Wishbone offense famous in the late 1960s.
The play, which began at Texas' 6-yard line, resulted in a 47-yard gain on a pass from Ash to tight end Greg Daniels. Ash handed off and then took a lateral before passing to Daniels.
