Cincinnati 34, Temple 10: Senior Brendon Kay threw for two touchdowns in his first career start and George Winn ran for a pair of first-half scores as the visiting Bearcats rolled past the slumping Owls.
Kay, who was given the nod over the struggling Munchie Legaux, completed 13 of 21 passes for 244 yards for Cincinnati (7-2, 3-1 Big East), which stayed in the thick of the league race - now tightened with 10th-ranked Louisville's loss at Syracuse.
Clinton Granger came off the Temple bench after halftime to throw for 86 yards and a touchdown. Starter Chris Coyer was just 5-for-16 for 56 yards and an interception in the first half as the Owls (3-6, 2-4) went into intermission trailing 24-3.
Winn capped a 74-yard drive midway through the first quarter by plowing into the end zone from one yard out to start the scoring. He did the same thing with 8 minutes left in the second.
After Granger threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Cody Booth to get Temple within 24-10, Kay threw a bomb down the right side to Chris Moore that resulted in a 65-yard score with 21 seconds left in the third quarter.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bearcats had 228 yards on the ground. Winn accounted for 83 and Kay had 71 on just seven carries. ... Cincinnati hosts first-place Rutgers, which is 5-0 in the Big East, next Saturday before playing league also-rans South Florida and Connecticut in the final two weeks of the season. ... Temple is assured of its first losing season since 2008.
