Cincinnati 27, No. 25 Virginia Tech 24: Munchie Legaux threw for 376 yards and three scores, including the go-ahead 39-yard touchdown pass to Damon Julian with 13 seconds left, and the Bearcats stunned the Hokies in a neutral-site game at FedEx Field.
Kenbrell Thompkins had seven catches for 134 yards and a touchdown for the Bearcats (3-0).
Cincinnati, which received $3.5 million from the Washington Redskins to move this game to Landover, Md., stunned the pro-Virginia Tech crowd moments after Baltimore native Corey Fuller hauled in a 56-yard touchdown pass from Logan Thomas with 1:49 left to give the Hokies a 24-20 lead.
With the crowd going wild and the pocket collapsing around him, Legaux launched a deep ball to Julian, who made a tremendous sliding catch with a defender on his heels. The play was upheld after review.
Virginia Tech (3-2) had one last chance, but Thomas' desperation heave was intercepted by Camerron Cheatham.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cincinnati outgained Virginia Tech 146-72 in the first half. ... The Hokies' initial first down came with just over five minutes left in the half and was accompanied by some sarcastic cheers. ... Legaux's holding penalty on a reverse to Ralph David Abernathy IV negated a Bearcats' touchdown late in the first half.
