Mississippi 39, Tulane 0: Jeff Scott rushed for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Mississippi posted its first shutout in four years as the Rebels coasted to a non-conference win in New Orleans.

Ole Miss (3-1) outgained Tulane 183-14 in total offense in the first quarter en route to a 26-0 lead as the Rebels beat the Green Wave (0-3) for the 11th straight time.

The shutout was the first for Ole Miss since a 45-0 win over archrival Mississippi State in 2008.

After Scott scored on a 13-yard touchdown run on the Rebels' first possession, Ja-Mes Logan raced 14 yards for a score on a reverse to make it 12-0 with 6:24 left in the quarter.

Ole Miss broke it open with two scores in the final four minutes, the first on a 28-yard run by Randall Mackey and then a 23-yard touchdown pass from Bo Wallace to Donte Moncrief with 1:24 remaining. Wallace, who was just 7 of 16 passing for 101 yards, left in the third quarter because of a shoulder injury. His status for next week's game at No. 1 Alabama is day to day.

Tulane freshman quarterback Devin Powell, making his first career start in place of injured senior Ryan Griffin, struggled all day. Powell was 22-for-41 for 145 yards with three interceptions and was sacked three times. Ole Miss held the Green Wave to only 14 yards rushing and 159 yards of total offense.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tulane coaches and many fans wore Tulane shirts with the number 18 in honor of senior safety Devon Walker, who suffered a career-ending spinal injury at Tulsa two weeks ago. The Tulane helmets all had 18 on one side, while Ole Miss also had an 18 on the back of its helmets ... Powell became the first true freshman to start at QB for Tulane since ex-NFL signal caller Shaun King in 1995. King called the game on national television for Fox Sports ... Tulane suffered its first home shutout loss since being blanked by Texas in 2002.
