Leighton Settle scored on a 2-yard run with 4:33 left and the host Huskies overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to send the Jayhawks to their 14th consecutive road loss.

Northern Illinois (3-1) scored 17 consecutive points after Kansas (1-3) took a 23-13 lead 27 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Ten seconds after Tyler Patmon's 54-yard interception return TD made it a 10-point game, Huskies quarterback Jordan Lynch threw a short pass to Martel Moore, who ran 65 yards to score. Matthew Sims connected on a career-long 44-yard field goal to tie the game with 7:58 left.

Lynch, who had 467 total yards against Army last week, was 23-of-35 passing for 235 yards and two touchdowns and added 134 yards on the ground as the Huskies extended their home winning streak to 17 games - third-longest in the FBS.

James Sims, Kansas’ leading rusher last year, rushed 18 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns in his first game following a three-game suspension for an April arrest.
