Mississippi State 30, Troy 24: Tyler Russell threw three touchdowns to Chad Bumphis, and LaDarius Perkins rushed for 179 yards
and a score as visiting Mississippi State improved to 3-0 for the first time since 1999.
Russell completed 11 of 26 passes for 244 yards. He threw touchdown passes of 72 yards and 58 yards to Bumphis in the second quarter to give Mississippi State a 23-7 halftime lead.
Corey Robinson passed for 343 yards for Troy (1-2), but the Trojans committed four turnovers.
Russell sealed the win with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Bumphis that made it 30-21 with seven minutes left in the game.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Bumphis now has 17 career touchdown receptions, tying the school record held by Eric Moulds and Justin
