No. 3 LSU 41, Washington 3: Alfred Blue rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown and No. 3 LSU used a dominating defensive effort to overwhelm visiting Washington.
Zach Mettenberger threw for 195 yards and a touchdown and the Tigers' defense limited the Huskies to 183 total yards to tie a Tiger Stadium record with its 19th consecutive home win.
Kenny Hilliard added a pair of short touchdown runs as LSU (2-0) recorded its 39th consecutive victory against a non-conference FBS opponent, matching the all-time mark established by Kansas State (1993-2003).
Washington (1-1), which averaged 33 points per game last season, got on the board first when Travis Coons kicked a 34-yard field goal after LSU's Odell Beckman fumbled the opening kickoff.
From then on it was all Tigers, who extended their regular-season winning streak to 14 games. Blue scored on a 21-yard run and J.C. Copeland added a 1-yard TD for a 14-3 lead after one quarter. Two field goals by Drew Alleman made it 20-3 at halftime.
LSU put the game out of reach by scoring on its first two possessions of the second half, getting a 3-yard plunge from Hilliard and a 32-yard pass from Mettenberger to Kadron Boone to make it 34-3.
Huskies quarterback Keith Price connected on 17 of 36 passes for 157 yards and one interception for Washington, which finished with 26 yards rushing after having zero through three quarters.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Blue became the first LSU running back to start the season with back-to-back 100-yard games since Charles Scott in 2008. ... Washington had minus-11 rushing yards at halftime. ... LSU learned Friday that star LT Chris Faulk will likely miss the season due to a knee injury that will require surgery. Projected as a first-round pick in next year's NFL draft, Faulk was hurt in practice Wednesday. ... Washington's deficit at the half could have been larger but LSU's Russell Shepherd dropped an easy pass in the end zone.
