Montee Ball rushed for four touchdowns, Russell Wilson passed for two scores and No. 12 Wisconsin rolled to the Big Ten Leaders Division title, thrashing No. 19 Penn State 45-7 on Saturday in Madison.
The Badgers (10-2, 6-2 Big Ten) will face Michigan State in the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game next Saturday in Indianapolis. Wisconsin turned a close game into a blowout in the second quarter, winning its fourth in a row by drilling a Penn State defense ranked third in the nation in points allowed per game (13.0).
Tied at 7-7, Ball scored on a 1-yard run three seconds into the second quarter as Wisconsin took a 14-7 lead. Ball added a 2-yard run to cap an 11-play, 83-yard drive with 2:09 left in the half, making it 21-7 Badgers.
Wisconsin recovered a fumble at the Penn State 31 on the ensuing kickoff. Wilson completed a 4-yard touchdown pass to Nick Toon with 37 seconds remaining in the half, as the Badgers led 28-7 at halftime.
Ball added touchdown runs of 9 and 18 yards in the third. He rushed for 156 yards – the seventh time in his past eight games he has topped 100 yards rushing – and has 29 rushing touchdowns on the season.
Trailing 7-0, Wilson threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jared Abbrederis with 3:32 left in the first. Wilson completed 19-of-29 passes for 186 yards.
Penn State (9-3, 6-2) fell to 1-2 under interim coach Tom Bradley. The Nittany Lions lost four turnovers.
