John White IV set off on his 6-yard, second-quarter touchdown run with a spinning move in the backfield and Utah turned heads in the Pac-12 with its first conference win in program history, 27-8 over visiting Oregon State on Saturday.

White finished with 205 yards on 35 carries. He had 161 yards in the first half and his nifty scoring run late in the second quarter gave the Utes (4-4, 1-4) a 17-0 lead.

Utah struck again on a short pass from Jon Hays to DeVonte Christopher to put the Utes in command 24-0 at the half.

Dres Anderson, son of NFL star Flipper Anderson, caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Hays to give Utah a 10-0 lead in the second quarter.

Oregon State (2-5, 2-2) avoided a shutout on the first play of the fourth quarter when Sean Mannion completed a 3-yard scoring pass to Markus Wheaton.

The Beavers had a chance to score again right away following a fumble by White, but Malcolm Agnew also lost a fumble at the Utah 1. Oregon State got a safety on the Utes’ possession but could not get any closer.

It was black out night at Utah as most of the sell-out crowd was dressed in black.
