Morgan Newton threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Kentucky snapped a four-game losing streak with a 38-14 home win over FCS foe Jacksonville State.

The Wildcats scored more than 18 points for just the second time this season and improved to 6-0 all-time against Ohio Valley Conference opponents.

Kentucky (3-4, 0-3 SEC), which had been outscored 89-10 in its previous two games, took a 24-7 halftime lead, scoring on three straight second-quarter possessions.

The Wildcats extended their lead to 31-7 on Newton’s second touchdown pass, a 6-yard strike to La’Rod King early in the fourth quarter.

King caught five passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns for Kentucky, and CoShik Williams added a career-high 148 rushing yards. The Wildcats outgained Jacksonville State, 445-270.

The Gamecocks (5-2, 4-0 OVC), who scored a season-high 44 points in a win over Austin Peay last week, struggled throughout. Jacksonville State was forced to punt on four of its first five possessions before scoring on Coty Blanchard’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Alan Bonner with 2:28 left before halftime.

Washaun Ealey rushed for 120 yards for Jacksonville State, which fell to 4-14 all-time against FBS schools.
