California forced four turnovers and finally recorded its first Pac-12 victory of the season by posting a dominating 34-10 win over visiting Utah on Saturday.

Zach Maynard passed for one score and rushed for another as the Golden Bears (4-3, 1-3 Pac-12) scored 34 unanswered points while snapping a three-game losing skid.

California broke the game open with 20 second-quarter points as Golden Bears coach Jeff Tedford avoided the first four-game losing streak of his 10-year tenure.Isi Sofele started Cal’s uprising with a 5-yard scoring run and Giorgio Tavecchio added field goals of 35 and 37 yards to make it 13-0.

Mychal Kendricks intercepted the pass of Utes quarterback Jon Hays late in the half and returned it 32 yards to the Utah 42-yard line. Two plays later, Keenan Allen caught a screen pass from Maynard and scored from 12 yards out 27 seconds before halftime.

Maynard scored on a 4-yard run with 8:02 left in the third quarter to boost the lead to 27-0.

Utah’s John White scored Utah’s lone touchdown on a 14-yard run with 1:06 left in the game.

The Golden Bears had three interceptions, and Utah (3-4, 0-4 Pac-12) totaled just 177 yards, including 12 on the ground.
