Trent Richardson topped 100 yards rushing for the fourth consecutive game and scored two touchdowns, and No. 2 Alabama's defense shut down No. 12 Florida and knocked out quarterback John Brantley en route to a 38-10 road victory on Saturday
Florida (4-1, 2-1 SEC) started off well against the nation's No. 3 defense as Brantley hit Andre Debose for a 65-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage.
The complexion of the game changed when Courtney Upshaw intercepted a Brantley pass and went 45 yards for a touchdown to give Alabama a 17-10 lead early in the second quarter.
The Crimson Tide (5-0, 2-0 SEC) never trailed again, and Florida's offense sputtered in the second half without Brantley. The senior left with 35 seconds left in the half with an apparent right knee injury after being sacked by Upshaw.
That forced freshman Jeff Driskel into action, and the highly touted pro-style quarterback struggled. He was 2-of-6 for 14 yards.
Florida finished with 222 total yards - 15 rushing - as Alabama held its opponent to less than 300 yards for the 34th time in coach Nick Saban's 59-game tenure. The Crimson Tide have held opponents to 10 points or less 27 times under Saban.
Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis extended his streak of consecutive field goals made to 14 with a 21-yarder in the first quarter, but missed from 52 yards just before halftime to snap the streak.
The win was Alabama's third against a ranked opponent.
