LaMichael James scored three touchdowns and delivered the second-longest run in school history to help No. 14 Oregon to a 56-7 rout of visiting Missouri State on Saturday.
James had a 90-yard scoring run in the second quarter as part of a 207-yard rushing performance. The Ducks (2-1) scored the final 56 points during the victory over the Bears (0-3) of the Football Championship Subdivision.
Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas threw three touchdowns passes, two of them to Lavasier Tuinei, as Oregon posted its 18th consecutive home victory.
Colt Lyerla also had two touchdown receptions, catching one from Thomas in the second quarter and another from backup Bryan Bennett in the third.
James, a junior, carried the ball just 12 times while topping 100 yards for the 19th time in his career. He scored on a 50-yard run early in the third quarter to raise his career touchdowns count to 45, matching the school record set by Derek Loville (1986-89). James has 40 rushing touchdowns, one behind Loville’s record in that category.
Missouri State scored the game’s first points on a 3-yard run by Chris Douglas. The Bears are 0-3 for the first time since 1994.
Oregon led 35-7 at halftime despite possessing the ball for just six minutes, 32 seconds in the half.
