Four different players completed passes for the Fighting Illini, with Nathan Scheelhaase leading the way at 6-of-8 for 102 yards. Scheelchase also finished with 93 yards and two touchdowns rushing.

Illinois was up 28-0 less than 20 minutes into the game. Jason Ford rushed for a 4-yard score with 26 seconds left in the first quarter, and Trulon Henry returned an interception 27 yards for another score just 15 seconds later, putting Illinois up 21-0.

The Illini defense had little trouble with South Dakota State, allowing 96 total yards and forcing a pair of turnovers.

The Jackrabbits (1-1) managed only six first downs and scored their lone points on a 33-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Illinois (2-0) ramps it up next week when it hosts Arizona State.
