Robert Griffin III threw five touchdown passes and Aaron Jones kicked a 37-yard field goal with 1:04 left as host Baylor upset No. 14 Texas Christian 50-48 on Friday in Waco, Texas, after blowing a 24-point lead in the fourth quarter.
TCU drove into Baylor territory in the final minute before Mike Hicks picked off Casey Pachall's pass with 2 seconds left as the Bears snapped the Horned Frogs' 25-game winning streak.
The Horned Frogs scored 25 unanswered points to take a 48-47 lead with
4:27 left before Griffin led a 10-play, 60-yard drive to set up Jones’
winning field goal.
Baylor had lost its last three games to TCU by a combined 89-17, but had no trouble scoring in this one. Baylor’s spread attack resulted in 564 yards, 179 more than the Horned Frogs gave up in any game in 2010, when they led the nation in total defense for the third consecutive season.
Kendall Wright had 12 receptions for 189 yards and two touchdowns, and Terrance Williams had 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the Bears. Griffin passed for 359 yards and his touchdowns were a career high.
Terrance Ganaway rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown for Baylor.
Pachall, making his first career start for TCU, fought through calf cramps in the second half and led three fourth-quarter touchdown drives. He threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another, and finished with 251 passing yards.
The game appeared to be over when Griffin found Williams for a 42-yard touchdown down the right sideline in the third quarter to put Baylor up 47-23.
