Kellen Moore passed for 318 yards and two touchdowns and No. 10 Boise State overcame a slow start to rout No. 19 Utah 26-3 in the Las Vegas Bowl at Sam Boyd Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Broncos (12-1) were shut out for the initial 21-plus minutes until Doug Martin broke away for an 84-yard touchdown run that began a string of 26 consecutive points.
Utah (10-3) could only muster a 44-yard field goal by Joe Phillips in the first quarter while having its nine-game bowl winning streak snapped.
Martin rushed for 147 yards on 17 carries, including his Las Vegas Bowl-record touchdown run.
Moore tossed touchdown passes of 25 yards to Tyler Shoemaker and 18 yards to Austin Pettis, and erratic kicker Kyle Brotzman kicked field goals of 29 and 21 yards.
Boise State overcame four turnovers to roll up 523 yards, and held the Utes to 201 yards.
The touchdown reception by Shoemaker gave Boise State a 16-3 halftime lead. Pettis caught 12 passes for 127 yards and his TD catch gave the Broncos a 20-point lead midway through the third quarter.
Utah quarterback Terrance Cain struggled while starting in place of Jordan Wynn, who underwent shoulder surgery earlier this month. Cain was 10 of 24 for 96 yards, and was sacked five times.
