Jake Locker completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse with 44 seconds to play to lift Washington to a 35-28 victory over rival Washington State at Pullman, Wash., on Saturday night.
The Huskies, who won their third straight and qualified for a bowl berth with the victory, blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead before mounting an 88-yard drive to win the game.
Chris Polk paced the Huskies (6-6, 5-4 Pac-10) with 285 yards rushing including a pair of touchdowns. Locker also ran for a touchdown and connected with Kearse on a 66-yard touchdown earlier in the game.
The Cougars (2-10, 1-8) got three touchdown passes from Jeff Tuel, who also ran for another score.
Locker was 14 for 22 passing for 226 yards.
Washington took a 14-0 lead on a 2-yard scoring run by Polk and 7-yarder by Locker.
The Cougars trimmed the deficit to 14-7 when Jeff Tuel connected with Jared Karstetter on a 5-yard touchdown pass. Tuel (25 for 35 passing, 298 yards) also threw scoring passes to Daniel Blackledge and Marquess Wilson.
