Jordan Todman rushed for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Connecticut became bowl eligible with a 23-6 victory over Syracuse on Saturday in a Big East Conference game.

The Huskies (6-4, 3-2 Big East) continued their late-season surge with their third straight victory to move into a second-place tie with West Virginia. Connecticut has defeated both the Mountaineers and first-place Pittsburgh since Oct. 29, and sits one game out of the Big East lead.

Todman rushed for 100 or more yards for the eighth time this season. His 1-yard run with 5:16 left in the first quarter opened the scoring and capped an 11-play, 80-yard drive, and his 2-yard touchdown run with 4:41 left in the third quarter pushed Connecticut’s lead to 17-6.

Todman, who came into the game second in the nation in rushing at 147 yards per game, has rushed for 1,306 yards this season.

Dave Teggart booted three field goals - two 35-yarders and a 23-yarder.

The Orange (7-4, 4-3) remain winless at home in the Big East. Syracuse’s offense was limited to a pair of Ross Krautman field goals, from 42 yards in the first quarter and 35 yards in the third quarter.

Connecticut plays host to Cincinnati Saturday, then travels to South Florida on Dec. 4. Syracuse ends the regular season Saturday against Boston College.
