South Carolina survived another scare and held off Tennessee, 38-24, to keep alive its bid for its first SEC East division title.

South Carolina (6-2, 4-1) appeared to have the game under control when Devin Taylor’s 24-yard interception return gave the Gamecocks a 24-10 lead in the third quarter. But Tennessee (2-6, 0-5) pulled quarterback Matt Simms and inserted freshman Tyler Bray who promptly threw two touchdowns to tie the score at 24-24 early in the fourth quarter.

But the Gamecocks answered quickly. Stephen Garcia connected with Alshon Jeffery, who broke a tackle, got in the open field and raced in for a 72-yard touchdown. Garcia later scored on a one-yard run that put South Carolina up 38-24.

Garcia finished 13 of 22 for 225 yards and led an offense that produced 433 yards. Freshman Marcus Lattimore had 184 yards on 29 carries. Tennessee's Denarius Moore had six catches for 228 yards.
