Greg McElroy threw a pair of touchdown passes as Alabama rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 23-10 victory over Mississippi in the Southeastern Conference on Saturday night.
The No. 8 Crimson Tide, which lost its hold on the top spot in the national rankings after losing to South Carolina last week, raced out to a 13-0 lead, and never looked back.
McElroy threw a 7-yard pass to Preston Dial to open the scoring early in the first quarter. When he connected with Trent Richardson on an 85-yard scoring pass in the third quarter Alabama (6-1, 3-1) led 23-3. McElroy finished 17 of 25 passing for 218 yards.
Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram finished with 60 yards on 15 carries. Richardson led the way with 100 yards receiving on five catches.
Jeremiah Masoli struggled against the Alabama defense. He was 18 for 40 passing for 112 yards and a touchdown for the Rebels (3-3, 1-2).
