Austin Dantin threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two more as visiting Toledo upset Purdue 31-20 on Saturday afternoon.
The Rockets (3-1) won their third consecutive road game and evened the series with the Boilermakers at 3-3. Purdue (2-2) had been dominant against Mid-American Conference teams, going 14-2 since 2000.
Dantin was 24 of 31 for 209 yards and rushed 17 times for 63 yards.
Dantin helped Toledo grab a 24-3 lead with touchdown passes of 5 yards to Eric Page and 7 yards to Danny Noble and a 58-yard run.
The Boilermakers scored two touchdowns late in the third quarter on a 36-yard run by Jared Crank and an 8-yard pass from Rob Henry to Dan Dierking to get to 24-17. A 22-yard field goal by Carson Wiggs with 8:12 remaining made it 24-20.
Toledo recovered an onside kick and Dantin marched them to another score, capping the drive with a 1-yard run with 5:30 remaining.
Archie Donald intercepted Henry at the Toledo 28 and returned it 48 yards, stopping the Boilermakers' best threat late in the fourth.
Henry, substituting for an injured Robert Marve, was 17 of 32 for 140 yards passing.
