No. 5 TCU had its second strong showing of the season, routing Tennessee Tech 62-7 at Amon G. Carter Stadium on Saturday.
The Horned Frogs (2-0) scored on their first three possessions and led 35-7 at halftime. Andy Dalton got the scoring started with a 24-yard touchdown pass, Matthew Tucker scored on a 3-yard run and Jason Teague intercepted a pass and returned it 29 yards for a score.
Tennessee Tech (0-2) broke through in the second period when quarterback Tre Lamb found Tremaine Hudson for an 11-yard touchdown pass. But that didn’t slow TCU, which tacked on a pair of rushing touchdowns, a 5-yarder by Jeremy Kerley and a 1-yarder by Tucker.
Dalton completed 15 of 21 passes for 182 yards and also rushed five times for 23 yards and one touchdown. Ed Wesley led TCU with 85 yards rushing on 11 carries and scored once. Tucker carried nine times for 53 yards.
The TCU defense was led by Alex Ibiloye, who forced three fumbles and had nine tackles. Tanner Brock also had nine tackles and half a sack.
TCU plays again at home next week against Baylor, while Tennessee Tech returns home to face Lane.
