Tiger-Cats 38, Alouettes 26: Dane Evans threw for 379 yards and four touchdowns, including three to speedy receiver Brandon Banks, as visiting Hamilton outlasted Montreal for its fifth straight victory.
Evans completed 29-of-36 passes with one interception and top target Banks finished with 201 yards on 11 receptions as the East Division-champion Tiger-Cats (14-3) won the season series 2-1. Bralon Addison ran for a score and made five catches for 53 yards while Anthony Coombs caught a touchdown pass for Hamilton, which has won nine of 10 to increase its franchise-record victory total.
Vernon Adams Jr. was 11-of-14 for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns with one interception in less than one half for the Alouettes (9-8) before being rested in favor of backup Matt Shiltz, who completed 12-of-21 passes for 142 yards with a TD and an interception. Jeremiah Johnson rushed for 105 yards while Eugene Lewis gained 100 on seven catches for Montreal, which had its four-game home winning streak ended.
Adams threw a 9-yard TD pass to Quan Bray to give the Alouettes an early lead before Evans found Banks for a 55-yard score to pull the Tiger-Cats within 7-6 after one quarter. Adams connected with Jake Wieneke for an 11-yard touchdown to push the lead to eight points and Addison responded with an 18-yard TD run before Maleek Irons ran for the conversion to tie it, but Chris Matthews caught a 15-yard scoring strike from Shiltz to give Montreal a 21-14 advantage at intermission.
Coombs caught a 6-yard scoring pass to tie it and, after Cariel Brooks intercepted Shiltz, Evans found Banks again for a 9-yard touchdown as Hamilton took a 28-23 lead into the final quarter. Boris Bede split the uprights from 29 yards to cut Montreal's deficit to two before Evans came right back with a 6-yard TD toss to Banks, who has made at least one touchdown catch in six consecutive games.
