Evans completed 32-of-41 passes, including a 60-yard touchdown strike to Brandon Banks, as the Tiger-Cats (13-3) topped their previous 12-win teams from 1989 and 1998. Banks finished with seven receptions for 116 yards while David Watford and Jalin Marshall (85 yards receiving) each ran for a touchdown as East Division champion Hamilton won its ninth straight at home and fourth in a row overall.

Will Arndt was 17-of-30 for 112 yards in his second start for Ottawa (3-13), which has lost nine straight games for the first time since 2014. Lewis Ward booted four field goals while Caleb Holley hauled in four passes for 44 yards and Brendan Gillanders added 61 yards from scrimmage for the Redblacks, who fell to 2-6 on the road and 1-5 against East Division foes.

Ward gave Ottawa an early lead with a 40-yard field goal, but Marshall ran 5 yards for a score on his first CFL carry and Lirim Hajrullahu converted a 33-yard kick as the Tiger-Cats moved in front 9-3. Ward was on target from 27 and an Ottawa-record 56 yards in the second quarter to tie the game before Hajrullahu's 38-yarder with 11 seconds left gave Hamilton a 12-9 lead at intermission.

Watford, a short-yardage quarterback, sneaked in for a 1-yard TD to push the advantage to 10 points and, after Ward converted a 43-yard attempt, Evans connected with Banks deep down the right sideline for a score as the Tiger-Cats pushed their lead to 26-12 after three quarters. Hajrullahu added field goals from 24 and 36 yards in the final 15 minutes as Hamilton reached 30 points for the fifth time in its last six games.
