Roughriders 41, Argonauts 16: Cody Fajardo threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns as visiting Saskatchewan cruised past Toronto to grab a share of first place in the West Division.
Fajardo completed 23-of-27 passes while rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown for the Roughriders (9-4), who clinched a playoff berth. Manny Arceneaux caught a pair of passes for 72 yards and a TD while Kyran Moore finished with six receptions for 69 yards and a score for Saskatchewan, which has won eight of its last nine games.
James Franklin was 21-of-30 for 208 yards and touchdown while adding a rushing score in his first start since July for the Argonauts (2-11), who have dropped seven consecutive meetings with the Roughriders. S.J. Green caught five passes for 55 yards and a TD while Chris Rainey gained 50 yards on the ground for the Argonauts.
Brett Lauther and Tyler Crapigna traded 13-yard field goals before Fajardo threw a 28-yard scoring strike to Moore to put the Roughriders on top 10-3. Lauther converted a 40-yard attempt with 1:31 left in the second quarter to help Saskatchewan build a 13-3 halftime lead and Fajardo found Shaq Evans for an 8-yard touchdown following a fumble by Rainey early in the third as the Roughriders pulled ahead by 17 points.
Fajardo ran 8 yards on a quarterback draw for a TD to cap a 9-play drive and put Saskatchewan in control at 27-3 before S.J. Green made an acrobatic 15-yard catch in the end zone to cut Toronto's deficit to 27-10. Fajardo aired out a 55-yard touchdown pass to Arceneaux and backup quarterback Bryan Bennett ran for a 12-yard score as Saskatchewan swept the season series with Toronto by a combined 73-23.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arceneaux extended his reception streak to 111 games. … Toronto WR Derel Walker caught three passes for 46 yards to move within five of reaching 1,000 receiving yards for the third time in his career . … Saskatchewan DE Charleston Hughes, who missed the previous game with an unspecified injury, registered a pair of sacks to raise his season total to a league-leading 15. … Fajardo has thrown for 708 yards and five touchdowns against the Argonauts this season.
