Redblacks 30, Alouettes 27 (OT): Rookie DeVonte Dedmon returned two kicks for touchdowns and Lewis Ward booted a 14-yard field goal in overtime as visiting Ottawa defeated Montreal to end its four-game losing streak.
Dominique Davis completed 20-of-34 passes for 164 yards after missing the previous two games with a lower leg injury for the Redblacks (3-4), who won for the first time since June 20. Ward extended his CFL-record streak of made field goals to 67 straight with three conversions, John Crockett rushed for 71 yards and Brad Sinopoli caught a TD pass as Ottawa avoided its worst losing streak since 2014.
Vernon Adams Jr. was 13-of-25 for 120 yards and rushed for a pair of scores before leaving the game with a concussion in the second quarter while Antonio Pipkin completed 8-of-17 attempts for 57 yards in relief for the Alouettes (3-3). William Stanback gained 88 yards on 12 carries but fumbled on second down in overtime to end the game as De'Andre Montgomery recovered the ball to halt Montreal's three-game winning streak.
The first of Ciante Evans' two interceptions set up an 18-yard field goal by Boris Bede and a fumble led to a 13-yard TD run by Adams that gave the Alouettes a 10-0 lead before Dedmon took the ensuing kickoff back 111 yards for a score to get Ottawa on the board. Adams found the end zone from 1 yard out late in the first quarter to increase Montreal's advantage to nine points, but Dedmon broke several tackles before scoring on a 95-yard punt return with 45 seconds left in the opening half to trim the Redblacks' deficit to 17-14.
Michael Wakefield's interception led to a 5-yard touchdown pass from Davis to Sinopoli early in the third quarter that gave Ottawa its first lead, but 30- and 45-yard kicks by Bede helped Montreal pull back in front 24-21. Bede converted from 18 yards away to increase the lead, but Ward halved the deficit with a 46-yarder before forging a tie with a 30-yard kick with two seconds left in regulation.
