Eskimos 32, Alouettes 25: Trevor Harris threw for 447 yards and added four total touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 1:07 remaining in the fourth quarter, as Edmonton held off visiting Montreal in the season opener for both teams.

Harris completed 32-of-41 passes in his debut with Edmonton after spending the previous three seasons in Ottawa while C.J. Gable gained 154 yards on the ground and made a touchdown catch. Ricky Collins Jr. caught nine passes for 175 yards while Kenny Stafford finished with seven catches for 98 yards and a pair of TDs for the Eskimos, who survived 11 penalties and four turnovers (two fumbles, two lost on downs).

Vernon Adams Jr. went 7-of-10 for 134 yards and a touchdown in relief of Antonio Pipkin, who went down with an ankle injury in the third quarter as Montreal suffered its 11th straight loss to Edmonton. B.J. Cunningham hauled in seven passes for 96 yards and a TD while William Stanback recorded 76 yards and a score on nine carries for the Alouettes, who surrendered 608 yards of offence.

Bo Lokombo recovered a muffed punt near midfield and Pipkin found DeVier Posey in the back of the end zone late in the first quarter for an 8-yard touchdown to give Montreal a 7-2 lead. Harris threw a 28-yard scoring strike to Stafford to put Edmonton on top before the duo hooked up for 10-yard touchdown with 28 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Eskimos an eight-point cushion at intermission.

Edmonton extended its lead to 25-8 following Gable's 23-yard touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter, which capped a nine-play drive that started on its own 1-yard line before Stanback found the end zone from 5 yards out to pull Montreal within 10. Cunningham made a 17-yard touchdown catch and Boris Bede tied the game at 25-25 with a 52-yard field goal with 2:12 remaining before Harris called his own number from the 2-yard line with 67 seconds left to win it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Harris recorded his fourth career 400-yard passing performance while finishing with at least 20 completions for the 14th straight time in the regular season. … Lokombo suffered a rib injury in the second quarter and did not return. … Pipkin finished 7-of-17 for 57 yards and a touchdown to go along with 45 yards on the ground … Gable needs 44 rushing yards to reach 4,000 for his career.
