Roughriders 35, Lions 16: Cameron Marshall rushed for 134 yards on 19 carries as Saskatchewan rode its opportunistic defence past visiting BC and clinched a home playoff date.

Zack Evans and Ed Gainey each scored a defensive touchdown for the Roughriders (12-6), who lost starting quarterback Zach Collaros to a concussion in the second quarter. Kyran Moore caught five passes for 54 yards to lead Saskatchewan, which can win the West Division title if Calgary falls to BC next week.

Travis Lulay was limited to 94 yards on 9-of-20 passing with a touchdown and two interceptions for the Lions (9-8), who will be the crossover team to face Hamilton in the East Division semifinal on Nov. 11. Bryan Burnham made two catches for 52 yards and a score while short-yardage quarterback Cody Fajardo added a touchdown on the ground for BC, which fell to 2-7 on the road.

Brett Lauther converted field goals from 45 and 36 yards to put the Roughriders on top 6-0 after one quarter. Mason rushed for a 7-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 13 points and Lauther tacked on a 37-yarder to help Saskatchewan build a 16-2 advantage at halftime.

Lulay aired out a 44-yard touchdown pass to Burnham early in the third quarter to pull the Lions within a touchdown, but Willie Jefferson stripped Lulay and Evans pounced on the loose ball for a one-yard score to put Saskatchewan in front 25-9. Gainey picked off a pass by Lulay and sprinted 42 yards for a touchdown in the opening minute of the fourth to increase the lead to 23 before Fajardo scored on 1-yard quarterback sneak with 9:03 left, but Lauther kicked a 22-yard field goal to seal an impressive victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Saskatchewan has scored 11 defensive touchdowns, which equals the single-season record set by BC in 1987. … Lions QB Jonathon Jennings finished 5-of-8 for 61 yards in relief of Lulay while Saskatchewan QB Brandon Bridge was 4-of-9 for 44 yards after Collaros went down. … Burnham needs 14 receiving yards to reach 1,000 for the third consecutive season. … The announced attendance at Mosaic Stadium was 30,091.
