Argonauts 20, Eskimos 17: James Franklin threw for 217 yards and a touchdown against his former team as host Toronto edged Edmonton to notch its first win of the season.

Franklin went 16-of-24 through the air and added a rushing touchdown for the Argonauts (1-2), who played their first game without injured quarterback Ricky Ray. James Wilder Jr. rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown, while Declan Cross caught a TD pass for Toronto, which was outgained 426-353.

Mike Reilly completed 28-of-40 passes for 370 yards and a touchdown for the Eskimos (2-2), who were undone by 11 penalties for 116 yards. D'haquille Williams hauled in eight passes for 125 yards, Kenny Stafford made seven catches for 98 yards and Derel Walker finished with four receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Franklin called his own number from 2 yards out and Wilder rushed for a 5-yard touchdown, but Toronto missed both two-point conversions and had to settle for a 12-1 lead after one quarter. Sean Whyte kicked a pair of field goals from 33 and 40 yards to bring Edmonton within 12-7 at halftime.

Maurice McKnight picked off a pass from Franklin and Reilly took full advantage by throwing a 24-yard touchdown strike to Walker to give the Eskimos their first lead of the game at 14-12 with 1:32 to go in the third quarter. Whyte kicked a 41-yard field goal to extend Edmonton's advantage to five points before Franklin found Cross in the flat for a 5-yard score to put Toronto on top 20-17 with 2:57 remaining following a successful two-point convert, and the Argonauts picked up enough first downs to run out the clock.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Franklin saw his streak of consecutive passes without an interception end at 164. … Edmonton RB C.J. Gable, who was named one of the CFL's Top Performers of the Week, was held to 39 yards on 14 carries after rushing for 165 yards and a touchdown against the BC Lions in Week 3. … Toronto WR Llevi Noel added two catches for 81 yards.
