Tiger-Cats 31, Blue Bombers 17: Jeremiah Masoli threw for 369 yards and a touchdown as Hamilton rolled past visiting Winnipeg in its home opener.

Masoli completed 31-of-41 attempts and finished with at least 300 yards passing for the eighth straight game to pull within one of the CFL record, while Mercer Timmis rushed for a pair of touchdowns for the Tiger-Cats (2-1). Brandon Banks made 11 catches for 111 yards, Jalen Saunders pulled in seven passes for 97 yards and Terrence Toliver registered six receptions for 84 yards and a TD for Hamilton.

Rookie Chris Streveler completed 17-of-30 passes for 146 yards and ran for a touchdown to lead the Blue Bombers (1-2), who totaled 86 points in their first two games this season. Andrew Harris rushed for 66 yards and a score for Winnipeg while Streveler was held without a TD pass after recording six in his first two contests.

Harris bulled his way into the end zone from 1 yard out to open the scoring for the Blue Bombers before the Tiger-Cats fought back to tie on Timmis' 1-yard TD run late in the first quarter. Justin Medlock converted a 38-yard kick 3:48 into the second quarter to give Winnipeg a 10-7 lead, but Lirim Hajrullahu answered with field goals of 50, 17 and 42 yards - the last as time expired in the first half - as Hamilton owned a 16-10 advantage at intermission.

While the Blue Bombers sputtered on offence, the Tiger-Cats increased their lead in the third quarter as Timmis ran 4 yards for a TD and Masoli connected with a wide-open Toliver for a 25-yard scoring strike for a 31-10 advantage heading into the fourth. Streveler gave Winnipeg some hope with a 15-yard touchdown run with 10:22 to go, but the Blue Bombers failed on their next two possessions - the second ending inside the Hamilton 10-yard line in the final minute.
