Stampeders 28, Tiger-Cats 14: Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 297 yards and a touchdown as host Calgary recorded its 13th straight victory against Hamilton in the season opener for both teams.

Mitchell completed 17-of-36 passes and connected with Kamar Jorden on a score in the fourth quarter for the Stampeders, who lost in the Grey Cup each of the last two years. Jorden caught four passes for 77 yards and Don Jackson rushed for 87 yards and a TD while Rene Paredes booted four field goals for Calgary, which won its first opener since 2015.

Jeremiah Masoli was 25-of-36 for 344 yards - his sixth straight game with at least 300 - but threw a key interception in the fourth quarter as the Tiger-Cats managed only three points in the second half. Jalen Saunders caught seven passes for 118 yards while Mike Jones added five receptions for 120 yards to lead Hamilton, which has not won at Calgary since 2004.

Paredes connected on two short field goals to open the scoring before Masoli completed a 76-yard pass to Jones and ran 13 yards for a touchdown on the next play to give the Tiger-Cats a 7-6 lead after one quarter. Paredes converted a 22-yard kick to push the Stampeders in front, but Lirim Hajrullahu's 41-yarder to end the first half gave Hamilton an 11-9 edge.

A fourth field goal by Paredes early in the fourth quarter allowed Calgary to retake the lead before Mitchell's 15-yard scoring strike to Jorden and a two-point conversion run by Terry Williams with 9:58 remaining increased the advantage to 20-11. Hajrullahu brought the Tiger-Cats within six by converting a 43-yard attempt with 4:25 left and Hamilton got the ball back, but Brandon Smith intercepted Masoli with 1:38 to go and Jackson ran 44 yards for a score to seal it.
