Stampeders 38, Argonauts 16: Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 307 yards and a pair of touchdowns as host Calgary cruised past Toronto to become the first team in the CFL to clinch a playoff spot.

Mitchell completed 20-of-34 passes and short-yardage quarterback Nick Arbuckle added a rushing touchdown for the Stampeders (11-2), who posted their 10th straight regular-season win over the Argonauts. Marken Michel accounted for 71 yards from scrimmage and two scores while Juwan Brescacin made five catches for 64 yards and a TD as Calgary extended its home winning streak to seven games.

McLeod Bethel-Thompson was 31-of-45 for 273 yards and rushed for a touchdown, but the Argonauts (3-10) dropped their fifth consecutive contest to leave their playoff hopes on life support. S.J. Green caught four passes for 68 yards and backup quarterback James Franklin ran for a touchdown for Toronto, which fell to 0-6 on the road.

Michel took a jet sweep 36 yards for a touchdown on the opening possession, but Rene Paredes missed the extra point and Toronto responded with a 2-yard quarterback sneak by Franklin to take a 7-6 lead. Calgary drove deep into Argonauts territory twice in the second quarter but settled for a pair of short field goals (13 and 9 yards) from Paredes en route to a 14-10 halftime lead.

Brandon Smith picked off a pass by Bethel-Thompson, which led to Arbuckle's 2-yard touchdown run with 5:29 left in the third quarter that gave the Stampeders a 24-10 advantage. Michel hauled in a 21-yard TD pass early in the fourth to extend Calgary's lead to 21 points and Mitchell threw a 5-yard scoring strike to Brescacin with 7:45 remaining to cap a dominant display.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Calgary WR Reggie Begelton, who made 12 catches for 303 yards and a touchdown in his previous two games, suffered a shoulder injury in the first quarter and did not return. … Green moved past Ray Alexander (8,842) for 29th place on the CFL's all-time receiving yards list. … Franklin has scored a rushing touchdown in seven of his last eight games. … Stampeders WR Markeith Ambles caught three passes for a game-high 69 yards in his CFL debut.
