Tevin Brown scored 22 points, Justice Hill had 20 and Murray State made 14 3-pointers to pull out a 74-72 victory over host Memphis in a nonconference game on Friday night.

Brown shot 8-for-16 from the field and 6-for-13 from long range, while Hill made 5 of 6 attempts from beyond the arc and 6 of 13 overall, to go along with six assists. Carter Collins scored 13 points, including 3-for-6 from distance.

Murray State (8-1), which overcame a 14-point halftime deficit to extend its winning streak to five games, shot 10-for-15 (66.7 percent) from 3-point range in the second half and 14-for-29 (48.3 percent) for the game.

Tyler Harris had 15 points and four assists, and Jalen Duren added 14 points and five rebounds for Memphis (5-4), which has lost four straight games.

Murray State, which also got 13 points and a game-high-tying eight rebounds from KJ Williams, shot 46.6 percent (27-for-58) from the field.

Memphis went 25-for-51 (49 percent) from the field, including 8-for-20 (40 percent) from beyond the arc. However, the Tigers missed eight of their 22 free throws.

Trailing 74-72 with 5.7 seconds remaining, Memphis stole the inbounds pass around midcourt, but Harris' heave fell well short at the buzzer.

Trailing 40-26 at halftime, Murray State made eight of its first nine 3-point attempts during a 33-16 run to open the second half. Along the way, the Racers took a 53-52 lead they wouldn't relinquish following Hill's shot from beyond the arc with 11:12 remaining.

Memphis tried to take control of the game after it trailed 22-17 with 9:15 left in the first half. The Tigers hit the Racers with a 17-2 run to take their first double-digit lead at 34-24 following Williams' two three throws with 2:34 left before intermission.

Led by Duren's 10 points, the Tigers had one of their best shooting halves of the season. Memphis shot 57.1 percent (12-for-21) and 50 percent (5-for-10) from the 3-point line. The Tigers would have had a larger lead if they hadn't missed six of their 17 free-throw attempts in the opening 20 minutes.
