Freshman Chris Lewis scored a season-high 22 points and Harvard held off a late Boston College charge for a 74-66 victory that made Tommy Amaker the winningest coach in Crimson history.
The victory, the second road win in as many nights in the Boston area, was the 179th of Amaker's Harvard career, breaking a tie with Frank Sullivan that was created by Tuesday night's 86-80 win at Northeastern.
On Tuesday night, the Crimson threatened to blow a 20-point lead and Wednesday they were up by 18 before going almost nine minutes without a field goal down the stretch. But they held on in both games.
The Eagles (4-4) finished on a 16-6 run and got as close as six but were guilty of turnovers and missed shots as Harvard (4-4) managed to escape with its first win after two straight losses to BC. Those came after the Crimson had won six straight in the local series.
Lewis, who had 10 points in the opener but hadn't scored more than seven since, was 9 of 12 from the floor and also grabbed five rebounds. Seth Towns, thanks to 7-of-11 shooting from the field, had 18 points and Bryce Aiken 16.
Jerome Robinson, coming off two straight career-high 27-point efforts, led BC with 25 points, going 10 of 23 from the floor and 3 of 8 from 3-point range, and also chipped in with six assists. A.J. Turner added 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Harvard was 16 of 18 from the foul line, making all 10 free throws in the first half, and BC attempted just six free throws, making three.
After playing two games in two nights, the Crimson don't return to action until a Dec. 23 game at Houston. BC hosts Hartford on Friday, its third home game within a week.
