Stanford 87, Utah 56: John Gage scored a career-high 19 points as the visiting Cardinal overwhelmed the Utes from the start of the Pac-12 game.

Chasson Randle contributed 17 points and a career-high eight rebounds for Stanford (12-8, 3-4 Pac-12). Josh Huestis added 13 points and seven rebounds and Dwight Powell finished with 11 points and nine rebounds, helping the Cardinal to a 43-27 advantage on the boards.

Justin Seymour scored 14 points to lead Utah (9-11, 1-7), the only player in double figures. Jarred DuBois went scoreless in the first half before finishing with eight points for the Utes. Renan Lenz also scored eight points for Utah, all in the opening half.

Playing their first home game on a Sunday in school history, the Utes never led, falling behind by 19 points with 8:45 remaining in the first half and taking a 20-point deficit into the locker room.

Freshman forward Jordan Loveridge, Utah's leading scorer, was a game-time decision after hitting his head in Thursday’s loss to California. He was cleared to play but went scoreless, missing his only field goal attempt.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stanford guard Aaron Bright made his last 28 free-throw attempts entering the game and was fourth in the nation in efficiency at 92.7 percent, but did not go to the line. … Twelve different players scored for Stanford. … Utah forward Jason Washburn scored six points, ending a streak of 10 straight games in double figures.
