Brock Motum scored 27 points and the host Cougars finally pulled away in the second half to beat the winless Tigers.

Motum, a 6-10 senior forward who came in averaging 19.7 points, scored 14 points in the first half to help Washington State (7-4) build a 26-21 halftime lead. DaVonte Lacy scored 11 points, the only other player for Washington State in double figures.

Dundrecous Nelson scored 13 points to lead Jackson State (0-7).

The Cougars scored the final eight points of the first half to take their five-point lead.

Jackson State rallied to take a 34-32 advantage in the second half, but Washington State came back with a 14-0 run to put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Motum was named Pac-12 Player of the Week after averaging 23 points in two games last week. He has scored at least 20 points in five consecutive games. … The Tigers are off to their worst start since beginning 0-10 in 2009. … Nelson was playing in his third game since becoming eligible after sitting out the fall semester. He was the leading scorer for Mississippi last season.
