Jarvis Summers' decisive three-point play capped his 27-point effort as visiting Mississippi eked out a 72-70 victory over Penn State.
Summers’ basket and free throw with 39.2 seconds left were the final points of the contest as the Rebels (7-1) won their fourth straight.
Tim Frazier had 17 points and nine assists and Sasa Borovnjak added 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting for Penn State (6-3). Cammeron Woodyard’s shot was off the mark with two seconds left as the Nittany Lions suffered their first home loss in five games.
Penn State led 65-60 with under four minutes to play but Ole Miss pulled within 66-65 on a 3-pointer by Summers with 3:18 remainin. The Rebels forged ahead 69-68 on Murphy Holloway’s layup with 1:05 left.
Woodyard’s driving basket put Penn State back up by one with 45.9 seconds. But Summers answered immediately, and Ole Miss held on.
Ole Miss went 11-for-24 from 3-point range, with Summers going 4-for-5.
Summers had 15 first-half points as Ole Miss led 35-34 at intermission.
