Swingman Glen Rice Jr. came off the bench to score 17 of his 23 points in the first half as host Georgia Tech pounded Siena 72-44.
Tech (4-2) led 37-18 following a half in which Rice buried 7 of 8 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers. It was Rice’s third game back since he served a three-game suspension for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
Coach Brian Gregory indicated Rice will continue to come off the bench for the time being.
The Saints (2-2) had only seven available scholarship players as senior forward Owen Wignot continues to recover from a head injury. Forward O.D. Anosike led Siena with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Siena shot a woeful 30 percent from the field (18 of 60).
The Jackets evened the all-time series 2-2, avenging a 62-57 loss last year at Siena. The game was played at Gwinnett Arena in suburban Atlanta because Tech’s new arena is under construction.
