CLEVELAND – William Buford and Jon Diebler led a balanced offensive assault as top-seeded Ohio State coasted to a 75-46 victory over No. 16 Texas-San Antonio in the second round of the East Regional on Friday afternoon.
Buford scored 18 points and Diebler added 14 for Ohio State (33-2), which shot 55.8 percent from the floor and 50 percent (12 of 24) from 3-point range. The Buckeyes assisted on 26 of their 29 field goals.
Ohio State, which will face No. 8 seed George Mason in Sunday's third round, fell into an early 9-5 hole before it answered with an extended 32-10 surge to take control.
Texas-San Antonio cut the deficit to 11 points early in the second half, but the Buckeyes responded with another 15-1 burst to make it 52-27 with 13:41 remaining.
Devin Gibson had a game-high 24 points and four steals for the Roadrunners (20-14).
