CHICAGO – After two opening-round exits, Florida State finally won an NCAA tournament game under Leonard Hamilton.

Derwin Kitchen scored 15 points as the 10th-seeded Seminoles overcame an eight-point deficit en route to a 57-50 victory over No. 7 seed Texas A&M on Friday.

Bernard James added 10 points for Florida State (22-10), which moves on to the Round of 32 to face No. 2 seed Notre Dame on Sunday.

A&M had a 31-23 lead early in the second half, but FSU went on a 13-0 run – including eight straight points from James – to take a 36-31 lead with 11:24 left and maintained the lead from there.

Florida State forward Chris Singleton also returned to action, adding five points in 16 minutes.

Sophomore guard Khris Middleton had 16 points for A&M (24-9), which had won its first-round game the past five years.
