Biko Paris hit five of his six 3-pointers in the first half as Boston College wasted little time in jumping all over Wake Forest and cruising to an 81-67 win in Thursday’s ACC tournament first-round matchup at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Paris finished with 21 points to fuel his team’s barrage of 10 3-pointers and keep its NCAA tournament chances alive. First-team All-ACC guard Reggie Jackson added 27 points, six assists and five rebounds, and teammate Joe Trapani added 22 points as fifth-seeded BC improved to 20-11 overall. The Eagles advance to Friday’s 2 p.m. quarterfinal date with No. 4 Clemson.
Freshman small forward Travis McKie totaled 16 points and 12 boards to pace Wake Forest, which ends its season at 8-24 with its 11th consecutive loss and 16th over its final 17 games.
Boston College shot a blistering 58 percent (18 of 31) from the field in the first half, including 53 percent (9 of 17) from 3-point range.
The Eagles hit nine 3-pointers before the break to take a 47-31 halftime lead and were never seriously threatened the rest of the way.
