Rashad Bishop scored a career-high 23 points and Cincinnati, despite blowing a 16-point lead in the final eight minutes of regulation, knocked off host Providence 93-81 in overtime on Saturday.
The Bearcats (21-6, 8-6 Big East), who were coming off an impressive win on Wednesday at home over No. 16 Louisville, led 64-48 with 8:01 remaining.
The Friars (14-13, 3-11 Big East), who have lost four straight, made a furious comeback and eventually took their only lead, 73-72, with 33 seconds remaining on a short jumper by Marshon Brooks. He led Providence with a game-high 27 points.
Bishop made one of two free throws with 15.5 seconds left to tie the game.
Brooks missed a long 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to send the game into overtime, when the Bearcats scored the first 10 points and were never threatened.
Yancy Gates, who has been relegated to a reserve role and had scored only 20 points in his previous four games, snapped out of his slump with 21 points and eight rebounds for the Bearcats.
Dion Dixon also broke out of his recent skid with 16 points, while Cashmere Wright recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-best 11 assists for Cincinnati.
