A three-point play by Allen with 1:14 left in the first half capped an 11-2 spurt that helped the Hokies (14-6, 4-3 ACC) go into the locker room with a 40-30 advantage. Miami rallied to within one, 62-61, with 2:59 remaining in the second period after back-to-back 3-pointers by Garrius Adams, but Virginia Tech's Erick Green responded with a three-point play on the next possession and the Hurricanes never came all the way back.
