Austin Freeman and No. 23 Georgetown kept it together down the stretch while Seton Hall couldn’t without Herb Pope.

Freeman scored 28 points and Seton Hall fell apart once Pope fouled out late in the game as the Hoyas posted an 80-75 victory Tuesday in a Big East Conference matchup.

Georgetown (14-5, 3-4 Big East) has won two straight – both in New Jersey - since a three-game losing skid, and Freeman is a big reason why. The preseason Big East Player of the Year was 10 of 13 from the field and hit three 3-pointers after a 25-point effort at Rutgers on Saturday.

While the Hoyas were celebrating a big win, the Pirates were left to lament one that got away.

Seton Hall (8-11, 2-5) was down nine early in the second half but put together a 19-2 run to take a 52-45 lead with just over 12 minutes to go. The Pirates managed to stay in front and led 73-69 when Pope fouled out with 2:11 to play.

Georgetown took over from there, outscoring Seton Hall 11-2 the rest of the way.

Jeff Robinson scored 21 points for Seton Hall, which is just 2-7 in its last nine games.
