Jeffery Taylor scored a game-high 22 points and led four players in double figures as Vanderbilt (11-2) cruised to an 80-52 win over Davidson (7-6) on Sunday afternoon in its final non-conference tune-up in Nashville, Tenn.
Vanderbilt (11-2), playing without leading scorer John Jenkins who had a concussion, never trailed as the Commodores raced to a 52-24 lead behind Taylor’s 16 first half points. Taylor became the 41st player in Vanderbilt history to score 1,000 career points.
The Commodores, who won for the fourth straight time, shot 52 percent in the first half, hitting 13 of 25 from the field, and made 21 of their 23 free throws. Joining Taylor in double digits for Vanderbilt were Mike Tinsley, who had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Steve Tchiengang came off the bench to score 14, and Festus Ezeli added 10.
Davidson, which had its two-game winning streak snapped, was led by Chris Czerapowicz’s 16 points.
